Suez Canal Company(スエズ運河会社) – Free image Vintage postcard

(Exterior of the Suez Canal Company)

カードの宛名面(front of a postcard)

「Visto Revisione Stampa-Milano N.3751.」

Ismailia Office of the Suez Canal Co.

Vintage picture postcard of the Suez Canal Company.
This postcard was printed in Milan.

The Universal Suez Ship Canal Company (French: Compagnie universelle du canal maritime de Suez, or simply Compagnie de Suez for short) was the corporation that constructed and operated the Suez Canal between 1859 and 1869. It was formed by Ferdinand de Lesseps in 1858, and it owned and operated the canal for many years thereafter. Initially, French private investors were the majority of the shareholders, with Egypt also having a significant stake.
The company exists today, after a series of mergers, as GDF Suez. However, today the canal is operated by the Suez Canal Authority.

Ismailia (Arabic: الإسماعيلية‎‎ al-Ismāʻīlīyah Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [lesmæʕiˈlejjæ]) is a city in north-eastern Egypt. Known in Egypt as “The City of Beauty and Enchantment”, Ismailia is situated on the west bank of the Suez Canal, it is the capital of the Ismailia Governorate.

The head office of the Suez Canal Authority is located in Ismailia at the shore of Lake Timsah. It still has a large number of buildings dating from British and French involvement with the Canal. Most of these buildings are still used by Canal employees and officials.

I think a word “Ismailia” is beautiful.
